Kevin Kruggel Retires as Partner After 41 Years of Service

Kruggel Lawton CPAs is proud to announce that after 41 years of service, Kevin Kruggel, CPA, oldest son of the firm’s founder Herman Kruggel, CPA, has retired.

Kevin officially joined Kruggel Lawton (KL) in June of 1982 after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. However, he spent several summers helping his father in the office before he graduated. He was promoted to Partner in 1988 and served as the firm’s Managing Partner from 1995 to 2006. His leadership and vision for KL have been instrumental in creating an environment that meets clients’ needs while never losing sight of being a family-first firm.

“There is no better representative of our firm than Kevin Kruggel,” said Barry Hall, Kruggel Lawton’s Managing Partner. “For the past 40 years, he has embraced and lived Herm’s vision for the firm while serving our clients and community with compassion and commitment.”

“Kevin has been a mentor of mine my entire life,” said Kurt Kruggel, KL Partner and Kevin’s brother. “His expertise, patience, and drive to see those around him succeed have made him an incredible mentor to our staff and a highly regarded advisor. He is always willing to go the extra mile and because of that, his colleagues and clients see him as more than just an accountant; they see him as a friend. Congratulations on a great career brother!”

“When I interviewed with Kruggel Lawton back in 1991, Kevin shared a story that convinced me to join the firm,” said Bill Hefflefinger, KL Partner. “He told me that his dad never missed any of his or his siblings’ big events growing up because he knew the importance of putting your family first and prioritizing flexibility. Because of that conversation, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Kevin for more than two decades, and I can’t thank him enough for his support as I developed professionally and personally.”

Kevin graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting with high honors from the University of Notre Dame, and his active professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant and Certified Global Management Accountant. He has been actively involved in a diverse array of community organizations, including the Northern Indiana Center for History, both board and foundation; the St. Joseph County Business Development Corporation; the United Way; Friends of the Studebaker Fountain, and others. Kevin has been an active member of the Indiana CPA Society throughout his career, including serving on the board of the Society and its affiliate the CPA Center of Excellence, and serving as chairman of the board in 2012. He also served on the American Institute of CPA council in 2013-2014.

Kruggel Lawton celebrated Kevin’s career with a reception at Morris Park Country Club earlier this fall. Now that he’s retired, Kevin plans on spending his days traveling with his wife Mindy, visiting his children and grandchildren, golfing, cycling, and boating.
