Each year, the Indiana CPA Society organizes a day where firms across the state spend intentional time giving back to their communities. Kruggel Lawton spent the last Friday in September dividing and conquering at two incredible locations – Jefferson Elementary School in Goshen, and the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan in St. Joseph.

In Indiana, the team stepped into the classrooms of kindergarten – 3rd graders and participated in the Junior Achievement “JA in a Day” program. Volunteers were broken up into groups of two, and each group spent the day teaching students about financial literacy through fun, interactive lessons. The smiles shared by both the students and KL team members spoke volumes about the positive impact that was made at Jefferson Elementary.

Our second group rolled up their sleeves to help organize and streamline operations at the Humane Society in Michigan. They spent the day laying mulch and assisting with landscaping, arranging the storage area, helping with dishes and laundry, and cleaning pet toys and food bowls. They were able to accomplish a week’s worth of work in just a few hours; and as an added bonus, they got to spend some quality time with several furry friends who made the day even more special. Talk about making a difference!
