Experience

Margene leads Kruggel Lawton's nonprofit assurance and tax team in the firm's Indiana offices. She joined the firm in 2002 and has followed her passion to serve organizations that serve our communities. While experienced in a variety of industries, Margene's sole focus is the exempt organization sector.

Margene is involved at the partner level on engagements, focusing on serving nonprofit organizations. She is experienced in audit, review and compilation engagements. Other areas of service include:

  • Single audits and other matters relative to federal grants
  • Exempt organization tax compliance
  • Property tax preparation
  • Consultation regarding internal controls
  • Planning and research of tax issues related to organizational structure complexities for nonprofit entities
  • Address issues with IRS, state and local tax authorities on behalf of nonprofit entities

Interests

A native of Tolono, IL, Margene is an avid basketball player and a huge fan of Chicago’s professional hockey team, the Blackhawks. She enjoys spending time with her family and Shiba Inu dogs, Typhoon and Payton.
